Anti Cold & Flu Brew

Anti Cold & Flu Brew benefits

Lemon: Lemon is high in vitamin C which supports a healthy immune system.  Lemons help reduce fever, and support the detoxification functions of the body
Raw Honey: Is a natural anti-microbial food.  This means that is has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. You must be sure that your honey is raw because if it has been cooked or pasteurized these anti-microbial properties are lost.
Ginger: Ginger is anti-inflammatory so it will help with those body aches.  Helps soothe the throat and clear congestion because it has the ability to clear the micro-circulatory channels of the body, which include the sinuses.  Ginger will also help your body absorb more nutrients from the food you eat.
Garlic: Garlic has anti-inflammatory benefits for the respiratory system.   It is an immune boosting food with anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar: Helps to break up mucus throughout the body alleviating congestion in the sinuses and lungs.  It will also help cleanse the lymph system moving toxin out of the body.  Helps to relieve and upset stomach and sore throat. The most potent form of cider vinegar is unpasteurized and raw which contains the “mother” of the vinegar
Oil of Oregano: Known to be a potent anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic oil that can reduce pain and inflammation and effectively fight off infections. It will help strengthen the immune system and improve respiratory health.

This is a potent brew that can be used 3 times a day to fight off cold and flu symptoms or during an illness.  You can use these ingredients on a regular basis with one exception, oil of oregano should be used short term for acute symptoms for only 7-10 days at a time.

Anti Cold & Flu Brew

1 from 1 review

  • Author: Tammie Duggar

Ingredients

Scale

810 oz. water

1 tsp. fresh ginger, finely grated

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 Tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar

1 Tbsp. raw honey

13 drops oil of oregano

Juice from 1/2 of a fresh lemon

Instructions

Place water in a tea kettle over high heat. Warm water- DO NOT let the kettle whistle because you don’t want to cook your garlic, raw garlic has more healing properties.

Place the grated ginger and crushed garlic in a mug.

Pour water over garlic and ginger and let sit for a couple minutes while you collect the other ingredients.

Add apple cider vinegar, honey and oil of oregano to the mug. Stir until all the honey is dissolved. Squeeze in the lemon juice. Stir mixture and enjoy.

Notes

This can be pretty potent for some because of the “spiciness” of the ingredients. Cut down on the amount of vinegar and oil of oregano if needed.
