Holiday Wassail

This is our favorite holiday beverage. You can enjoy it warm or cold and as it simmers on the stove-top it fills your home with the sweet and spicy scent of Christmas!

Holiday Wassail

Ingredients

1 quart unfiltered apple juice, raw and unpasteurized is the best
4 cups water
1 cup fresh cranberries
1/4 cup pure maple syrup, optional
1 Tbsp. whole cloves
3 whole cinnamon sticks
1/4 tsp. Allspice
Peel of one orange
1 quart orange juice, fresh squeezed is best
Zest of 1 lemon
Juice of 4 lemons

Instructions

Add apple juice, water, maple syrup, spices and orange peel to a stock pot.
Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Remove from heat, cover and allow too steep for 1 hour.
Remove whole spices and cranberries, add the orange juice, lemon zest and lemon juice.
Return to low heat. Bring to a simmer on the stove-top to serve hot or serve or allow to cool and chill in the refrigerator!
