Show ME the Love

Valentine’s Day is just a few short days away, I hope you have made reservations for a fun night out with your Valentine. I think it’s great that the calendar reminds us that every 14th of February is a day to make our lover feel extra special.

What about all the other days of the year? Shouldn’t those be days to celebrate our lover too? And what about ourselves, there should be a “Love Yourself Day”- don’t you think?

As a mom I have a busy lifestyle that includes taking care of the many needs of children, my husband, my home and my business. Sometimes I wonder if they could even survive without me. I’m not going to give them that option because being a wife and mother is something I have wanted to be since I was a little girl. I love it! It brings me joy and pleasure and heartache and pain, what could be better, right?

I have learned over the years that the responsibilities of raising a family can suck you dry if you don’t take time to nurture yourself. That doesn’t mean taking an hour every week or month to do something you enjoy. To me it means actually scheduling time for myself every single day of the week.

This is sacred time to be with myself, to nourish my needs and focus on my wants. In the past the idea of focusing on myself has made me feel selfish, I don’t feel that way anymore. I have learned that the more love I give myself the more love I can give to others.

My favorite things to do when I need to love myself:

Read

Color

Take a relaxing bath with candles and essential oils

Do Yoga

Dry Skin Brushing

Play in the kitchen

Exercise

Eat Chocolate

What do you do to give love to yourself?
